Bathrooms can very easily become messy and unhygenic, therefore, they need to be tidied and wiped over every day.

Use disposable cloths in the bathroom or wash cloths regularly.

Toothbrush mugs and holders harbour germs, so pop into the dishwasher once a week.

The steam created by a bath or shower makes easy work of wiping the surfaces around the bathroom.

A good tip to prevent mirrors steaming up is to wipe the mirrors with a little vinegar, then wipe over with a dab of shampoo.

To prevent cross contamination use different cloths and rubber gloves for cleaning in other areas of the house. A good way to do this is to operate a colour coding system, say pink cloths and gloves for toilet cleaning and other colours for the rest of the house.

Try to clean your toilet in the following order: cistern, handle, outside of bowl and u-bend, lid, seat, under seat, under ri
m, inside toilet.

Studies show that if you flush the toilet without putting the seat down, the toilet water and the germs contained within, may be sprayed around the bathroom and land as droplets onto the surrounding surfaces.

Before cleaning the toilet use a little bleach or sterilising fluid into bowl first. Allow to stand, then use brush or cloth to clean. This prevents transmission of harmful bacteria to other surfaces during cleaning. Always rinse toilet brush in a little water with bleach before returning to holder to keep it clean and fresh.

To sanitise a spa bath - fill with cold water and add a couple of capfuls of sterilising fluid. Run spa for 5 mins and leave to stand for at least one hour then drain.
